First and foremost, I am passionate about the field of immigration. Being a team member at USILC has provided me with ample opportunity to exercise my passion for immigration in a favorable environment.

As a paralegal in the General Immigration Department, I prepare cases from “a” to “z” and assume responsibility for the final product. I am well-versed in a broad spectrum of case types, from VAWAS to family-based petitions and consular processing. Overseeing the full processes involved in each case also requires ongoing communication with clients in Spanish and English, a duty I approach with empathy and understanding.

I have acquired five years of professional experience in the immigration field, mainly in humanitarian-based processes. I also honed my leadership skills while managing a team within an immigration firm’s T visa department. In this role, I was charged with monitoring various team issues, such as attendance and productivity, and acting as a case reviewer. My role not only exposed me to the complexities of team leadership, but it also prepared me to act as a go-to source of information for T visas. Prior to that position, I was employed in a high school and a junior high as an English teacher for five years, and I was a TOEFL instructor.

My past roles contributed in crucial ways to my current one at USILC, and I do not believe I would have gained the ability to perform my functions well without those experiences. Moreover, my past leadership experience has proved useful in my personal life by instilling in me the necessary mindset for managing my emotions, understanding others, and resolving conflicts.

One unique aspect of my personality is that my favorite color is black. It is a color I often choose for my wardrobe, as I believe this color reflects formality and strength, two attributes that I value in myself. I am family-oriented, and I have a husband and a 12-year-old daughter. My most loved hobbies include calisthenics, dance and kickboxing, which I participate in regularly as a means of exercise and for sheer enjoyment. I also compete in professional calisthenics events, and having won a competition is a source of pride for me.
