When I joined USILC, I was immediately impressed with the firm’s organized and structured environment. I felt as if I was part of a highly skilled and supportive team of experts working together to achieve common goals. The firm provides a variety of resources and standard operational practices that are designed to help us enhance our case preparation. Our diverse backgrounds are a benefit to the firm, since we serve a broad range of clients of various nationalities.
Before joining USILC, I was employed with a firm for five years, during which time I performed various functions in immigration law. After a while, I grew hungry for growth and a more challenging role. I longed to work alongside a higher level of professionals and USILC has fulfilled that opportunity. I am now employed within the firm’s Legal department as a paralegal, and my functions include preparing the full spectrum of cases, from initiation to completion. My background offered me in-depth exposure to a broad variety of immigration cases. I primarily oversee consular processing, family petitions, VAWAs, removal of conditions, citizenship, and asylum cases. I also communicate with clients in English and Spanish, to ensure that they feel supported and are aware of their case statuses. I reassure them that we are committed to helping them to the best of our ability. It fills me with joy and a sense of pride, guiding people through the immigration process when they are feeling overwhelmed.
I intimately relate to the immigrant experience since my spouse and parents are immigrants. My parents relocated to the United States when they were young, and I was born here. I was raised in the Cuban culture, and after venturing outside my community, I learned about the differences and similarities that connect us all as human beings. I also became enamored with the immigration industry and realized that it is both complicated and often rewarding.
I am the mother of two children. I am also an avid sports fan who has always favored the Dolphins and attended their games throughout the years. Traveling is another of my passions. I traveled frequently in the past, and have visited exotic places like Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia. It seems fitting that I met my spouse while backpacking. Traveling allows me to experience new cultures and view famous sites and sculptures in person, such as the giant Buddha. It also gives me the opportunity to sample savory international cuisines and indulge in my love of food. I especially enjoy pupusas, a Salvadorean food that is similar to a tortilla. Some of my favorite foods are Italian fare, a flavorful burger, pub food, and unique Asian cuisine.
