US-ILC REPRESENTS IN ALL 50 STATES

Bryanna Wilkins

Mail Processing Clerk

The part I enjoy most about working at USILC is the opportunity to interact and collaborate with a diverse group of team members. I enjoy the positive, supportive, and comfortable environment, as well as the energy that everyone brings to the workplace.

Although I initially sought an internship with US-ILC, I was fortunate to be offered a professional position instead. I have a general interest in the legal field, and joining US-ILC gave me the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in immigration law. My long-term goal is to pursue a career that combines law and psychology, since I am interested in incorporating behavioral analysis into my work.

I hold the position of Mail Processing Clerk at US-ILC. As such, I collect, sort, distribute, and organize all incoming mail for the firmโ€™s Operations department. I ensure that documents are properly opened, categorized, filed, and stored both physically and electronically. I speak English and Creole, and I am also in the process of adding Spanish and American Sign Language to my skill set. I believe that learning to communicate in multiple languages will benefit me in my professional life.

This role has strengthened my professional communication skills and given me a clearer understanding of the standards and responsibilities involved in a law office. It has also reinforced in me the importance of maintaining a professional demeanor and working effectively as part of a team.

Witnessing the many steps involved in the immigration application process piques my interest. This includes the intake, documentation, and interview stages. I am particularly interested in matters involving criminal records and in the administrative side of immigration law. Observing the managers and other team members, as well as learning how the officeโ€™s systems and processes operate, has given me valuable insight into how a law firm functions efficiently.

Outside of work, I have several creative and recreational interests. I like reading a variety of genres, including nonfiction, science fiction, romance, comedy, and historical books about wars as well as personal accounts from individuals who experienced the Holocaust. I am also drawn to storytelling and like writing poetry, short stories, essays, and music. In my free time, I also like spending time in the water, whether at the beach or in a pool. Swimming is one of my favorite activities.
