US-ILC REPRESENTS IN ALL 50 STATES

Jazzmin Chavez

Client Affairs Associate

Since joining USILC, I have come to cherish the teammates in my department for their helpfulness and their approachability. We communicate well with each other, and that is an aspect of teamwork that I do not take for granted. Another element of my work that is important to me is that I can participate in consultations with the attorneys and witness their unique approaches to cases as well as their processes. The way they conduct the strategy sessions is impressive.

As a Client Affairs Associate in the Client Affairs Department, I participate in strategy sessions and explain processes to prospective clients, helping them understand time frames and anticipate what to expect at each step. I serve as the primary point of contact for clients until they are assigned to paralegals. My goal is to ensure that they always have someone at the firm to whom they can address their questions or concerns, in either English or Spanish, throughout the entire process.

I have more than six years of experience in immigration law as a paralegal. I began my career in the legal field as an intern and eventually became a senior paralegal, working on cases for a law firm. Through this experience, I expanded my knowledge of the various immigration reliefs and processes. I also gained early experience in other areas of law, such as criminal, personal injury, and divorce. Despite that, my focus has been on immigration law for most of my career. As a woman of Hispanic heritage, I have personal insight into the immigrant experience, which I bring to my work. Each case impacts me and fuels my desire to help achieve the best possible outcomes.

I have always loved animals. I have twin goats named Chilindrina and Chavo, and my three young boys help me feed the goats and collect eggs from our chickens. It is a wonderful way for my children to connect with the world beyond electronic devices. I love watching their excitement grow when they are around our animals. One day, my goal is to purchase a house with many acres so we can care for even more animals. In the meantime, my husband and I take our children to petting zoos and on family vacations. I also have a deep appreciation for cars. My father works in autobody, and I used to enjoy working alongside him in garages. My ideal car is a Jeep, for its speed and agility. Speed requires a certain level of energy, and it is that energy that I enjoy bringing to everything I do.
