As a team member at US-ILC, I have the privilege of helping people who desire to live the American dream, just like my own family members. We provide a major step in the process and guide them through often challenging processes. It is rewarding, knowing that the functions I perform positively contributes to the lives of others, and may ultimately lead them to obtaining immigration benefits in the United States. I find it particularly special sharing with clients that their processes have been approved. My teammates and I support and motivate each other in helping clients achieve their immigration goals.
I have gained over two years of immigration experience. Before attending law school, I was a legal assistant at an immigration firm in Miami Lakes, where I acquired extensive knowledge in immigration processes and liaised with clients while managing some processes. During law school, I worked for another immigration firm, where I performed similar work for more than one year.
I am a Legal Assistant in US-ILCโs Legal department. My day-to-day duties include supporting paralegals in the case submissions process, executing immigrant and nonimmigrant filings, and assisting attorneys in preparing clients for their naturalization and other interviews. I communicate with our clients in English and Spanish in my role. My prior experience served as a stepping-stone for my current work, as I now manage a complex case load and have gained more substantive experience in immigration law.
I practicedย Taekwondo for 18 years, which taught me discipline, focus, and other skills that have aided me in all areas of my life. I also enjoy a certain element of risk, which led me to acquire a skydiving license. I make five to ten jumps each year, and am always fascinated by the way time seems to move in slow motion when I dive. Another unique ability that I have is being ambidextrous. After breaking my right arm as a child, I learned to compensate by writing with my left hand. This skill has come in handy over the years and has taught me flexibility.
