Immigration is a high-stake, high-pressure area of law that can be demanding to those in the field. Due to this, it is vital to work with professionals who can maintain their focus and remain calm under pressure. I have a team behind me that is supportive and willing to share responsibilities and information that enables us to function at a high level and stay organized. My teammates push me to grow. At US-ILC, my goal is to make a positive difference in people’s lives by providing them with vital information and acquiring details from them concerning their reasons for seeking our assistance. I give one hundred percent of myself to each pre-consultation session, by allowing people the time and space to share their stories. I am sensitive to the fact that those who reach out to us are eager to rectify their situations. As such, I strive to facilitate their understanding of the pre-consultation process and how the consultation will be tailored to their needs.

I have worked in the immigration field for several years, and my previous work left me feeling exhausted and disillusioned. Speaking with prospective clients and having even a small but inspiring effect on their life feels gratifying. I have gained a broad perspective about immigration issues through these conversations and have come to regard my own issues as seemingly small in comparison. My work fulfills me, which enforces my belief that I am in a good place.

In the Pre-Consultation Department, my work entails being one of the first points of communication for potential clients. I utilize my English and Spanish language skills to provide them with a breakdown of the full consultation experience. I ensure they understand that the pre-consultation process helps us to acquire the full scope of their stories. We ask specific questions to obtain information that will lead to a thorough case analysis for the actual consultation. We also request documents from them as part of this goal. Our overall plan within the department is to better assist those who seek our help by giving them a strong sense of what we can do on their behalf, and what reliefs may be available to them.

Because I am now in a healthy environment, I have found the energy to return to caring for my health and fitness. I am full of positivity, and I channel that into going on walks and resuming running. I have been training for a half-marathon. In my off time, my heart belongs to my five dogs. I admire the sheer joy and playfulness that they exhibit, and their ways of exhibiting love. I also love to prepare Tex-Mex and Mexican dishes, such as fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas, and other flavorful dishes. I avoid eating processed foods and prefer to create fresh dishes from scratch. Making homecooked meals fills me with peace and pose a challenge that appeals to me.
